The accelerating complexities of organizations have demanding new dimensions in management process and decision making. Therefore, design and utilization of powerful Management Information Systems - MIS has become inevitable, if managers intend to understand these complixities and make better decisions. The design and development of these MIS, however, causes a large investment and, hence it is necessary an accurate analysis for decision making about application of resources in this field. These analysis is expected to be made in the light of specific logical, and more rigorous criteria, rather than subjective preference of top managers only. This dissertation intended to analyse major methods of management information systems evaluation. A comprehensive bibliography review was made in a way to identify these methods, its conceptual foundations and techniques. Among of all, four method received special attention: 1)Economics of information systems approach 2)Cost-Benefit Analysis 3)Cost-Effectiveness Analysis 4)Perception value of information systems. All the four methods or approaches were described and analysed, face their theoretical and pragmatic characteristics. Comments about applications described in the literature reviewed were also performed
