This dissertation characterizes and analyses the sources of information of Paraibano radio, explaining its role in journalistic universe. Tirstly, it demonstrates the oral culture importance in Brazilian society, which leads the eletronic media and the radio, in particular, to become the principal means of information and communication of the populaces classes. Secondly, it stresses the historical, political and socio-cultural circunstances which made possible to the radio lumpen to become hegemonic in Paraiba. It concludes by pointing to a revolutionary perspective of such a radio, from a correlation wich the most advanced proposales in the public library area and of the popular information
