N2  - No dia a dia das organizações as pessoas interagem para trocar e compartilhar informação, que pode ser vista como elemento das relações sociais, e por isso, esta pesquisa utiliza-se dos instrumentos da Análise de Redes Sociais para subsidiar a gestão; da informação nas organizações. É um estudo de caso exploratório. Ocorre num departamento de um banco brasileiro e busca explicitar alguns aspectos sociais do processo úteis à gestão da informação nas organizações. Pois, para se ter efetividade no uso dos recursos informacionais nas organizações faz-se necessário: 1. o; reconhecimento do homem como elemento fundamental do processo informacional; e 2. o aprendizado de como trabalhar com esse recurso; This research uses the Social Network Analysis, that visualizes the social structures as a network shaped to find out its usefulness as an important tool for information management. It is a case study accomplished in a big financial institution and it starts from the assumption that the employees of a department set up - in their day to day work - a communication network aimed at information exchange and knowledge sharing. From the collection of information up to the act of deciding, there is a natural; social way which involves many individuals, establishing a real communications network. In this way, to get effective use of information resources in the institutions, the following is necessary: 1) recognition of the individual as a fundamental element in the field of the information process; 2) learning how to work with this resource
